Colorful splendor and silver shine give rise to a unique butter bowl that makes meals more enjoyable. The set includes a bowl with a toucan resting on its lid as well as a plate and knife. Designed to work as a butter bowl, it equally can be used for other foods or just to decorate and give a special touch to a china cabinet. The oval shaped plate is beat with a hammer to give it a border and a mark on top of which the bowl lid will lie. Hammering many times a sheet of copper until it has the desired form also forms the lid. The knife is chiseled by hand on a metal sheet, sharpened, and then decorated with numerous hand-cut pieces of "jicorita" stone. The pieces are then plated with sterling silver. A white chested Toucan with black feathers is the bird that embellishes the piece. Shell and stone are cut piece by piece to fit into the toucan’s body and provide the natural colors, and the bill is crafted using an original metal welding technique that combines copper, brass and monel . Once finished, the bill is joined to a completely handmade metallic body that was designed to look as if the toucan is standing on a branch observing its surroundings. The eyes are made from small pieces of obsidian. The toucan is joined to the lid to serve both as a handle and to decorate it. Measures 7.09" x 5.12".
