The artisan created a small tray hammering a sheet of copper to make a rectangular shape on top of which two chameleons covered with jicorita stones will stand. The chameleon figure is fretworked on brass and curved with heat. The bottom of the reptile is another brass piece chiseled with lines and curved to give volume as it is soldered with the first piece. The head is made separately with the technique of lost wax and shows the texture of a chameleon’s skin and a rolled tongue ready to catch a passing insect. The piece is then plated with sterling silver. There is an extra piece on top that can be removed as well as the piece used to create the divisions, to give this item its multiple uses.
