Wrought Iron is the result of taking steel metal and heating it until it becomes soft and malleable and then forging it into a desired shape. This is different from cast metal products, such as aluminum, that are produced by pouring the hot molten metal into a designed form where it cools into a desired shape.

The Black Powder coating is a very durable finish used to coat the finished steel metal (wrought iron) to prevent rusting when the piece is subjected to outside elements such as rain, snow, sleet, etc.  The process is actually an advanced method of spray painting with an extremely fine plastic powder paint that is charged with static electricity at the time of spraying to make it adhere to the metal.  The item is then baked in an oven where the powder paint melts and forms a beautiful solid finish without drips or runs and, in short, "seals" the metal to prevent water and moisture from touching the metal, thus preventing rust.  This black powder coating is also safe for our environment as no solvents are used and it does not get into the air we breath.  Also, any over-spray is reused.
